What you get

A calmer way to keep a hundred tabs.

Accordion groups

Click any group to open it; the rest collapse automatically. Only one group is expanded at a time, so the strip never sprawls.

Switch or Peek

Choose what a click does: jump straight into a group, or peek at it without losing your place. Flip modes with a keyboard shortcut.

Command dashboard

A live home screen for every group: filter tabs, jump to any tab, mute noisy ones, and reorder with drag & drop.

Save & sync sessions

Snapshot your groups as a named session and bring them back anytime. Optional sync carries them to your other computers.

Export & back up

Download your sessions to a file you own — a private backup, and an easy way to move them between machines.

Five cat companions

A cat keeps you company on the dashboard. Pick ginger, calico, persian, siamese, or tuxedo — or hide it.

Privacy

Your tabs stay yours.

Cat Tabs runs entirely in your browser. It has no servers of its own — your settings, favorites, and saved sessions are stored locally in Chrome.

Two things move data only when you choose to: turning on sync stores your sessions in your own Chrome account so they reach your other computers, and Export writes a file that you control. Nothing leaves your machine otherwise.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Cat Tabs?

Cat Tabs is a Chrome extension that turns Chrome’s built-in Tab Groups into a tidy accordion: click a group and it opens while the others fold away, so your tab strip stays calm. A one-time upgrade adds a full dashboard for managing everything from one screen.

Does Cat Tabs work with Chrome’s Tab Groups?

Yes. Cat Tabs builds directly on Chrome’s native Tab Groups and never changes your group names or colors — it only controls which group is expanded.

Is Cat Tabs free?

The core organizer is free forever: accordion groups, Switch and Peek click modes, keyboard shortcuts, and the pinned Home tab. A one-time $9.99 payment unlocks the dashboard. There is no subscription.

What does the paid dashboard include?

Live group cards, tab filtering, favorites and pinned tabs, saved sessions, recently closed tabs, an audio finder, drag-and-drop organizing, and a sidebar with your bookmarks and Google apps.

Does Cat Tabs upload my browsing data?

No. Cat Tabs has no servers of its own, and your settings and dashboard data are stored locally in Chrome. Optional session sync uses your own Chrome account, optional export saves a file you control, and payment is handled securely by Stripe through ExtPay.

Can I save and sync sessions?

Yes. You can save your groups as named sessions and restore them anytime. Optional sync carries sessions to your other computers through your Chrome account, and you can export or import them as a file.

Do the keyboard shortcuts work on Mac?

Yes. Cat Tabs uses Chrome’s keyboard commands, such as Option+S to switch modes, and you can customize them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Can I use Cat Tabs without the cat?

Yes. The cat companion is optional — pick from five cats or hide it entirely.
